The Friend family moved to the US from the Nertherlands in 1947 after WW2 and settled on the farm in Outlook in 1949 and started raising flower

John took over the farm in 1965 and continued to operate it until 2015. John raised many different products through the years and at one time had over 300 varieties of gladiolus. John developed a very large footprint within the Pacific Northwest both in Portland and Seattle delivering to many flower shops with a great reputation for quality product.

Joel came home from college in 2019 and the farm had scaled back the flower operation considerably so he started to grow the farm back to what it is today.

January of 2026 Outlook flower and bulb was formed as a partnership between Harvey and Joel in order to develop a broader market for the farm
